The Eight Shape pattern feature allows you to create a plan that will autonomously fly in a figure eight. This feature is most useful for pilots using a LiDAR sensor from Phoenix LIDAR Systems (PLS) as it supports autonomous calibration of their sensors in your mission without the need for manual control.
To use the Eight Shape feature:
- Step 1: Select "Plan" from the "Fly/Plan Tools" menu on the left side of the screen.
- Step 2: Create an Eight Shape by selecting "Pattern" from the tools menu. The Eight Shape Tools toolbar will then appear at the top of the screen with various placement options.
- Step 3: Select "map center" or click directly on the map to create an item in the Mission Command List.
- Step 4: Move the eight shape by dragging the highlighted mission point (green dot) to your desired position.
- Step 5: Set specific parameters for the eight shape, including altitude, diameter, shape angle (for smooth entry), and points per loop (to improve pattern smoothness).
